E-mail from Beth Balmes

DEAR RUTH,
LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS INCREDIBLE EXCITING MEANINGFULL EVENT. THANK YOU FOR THINKING OF ME. SEE YOU THERE.
---BETH

Julie's poem...

I like your poem, Julie! Wow, artist/writer ka din pala.. Very creative.. Keep it up!

Pangga Escutin

I spoke w/ Tess Herrera last night and she said she sent a card/letter to Pangga hoping she would respond. She said she has kept the Christmas card Pangga sent her last year, wala nga lang phone#. Hopefully, we can get in touch w/ her. Mas buo ang class natin, mas marami, mas masaya!! Di ba?

Carol Hernando...

Chat, can you please give me Carol Hernando's phone number? Doesn't she lives in New Jersey?
I saw her last Christmas eve at a bakery store in Bergenfield but I lost her phone number...Maybe she wants to attend the mini reunion in Jersey...

Thanks for organizing a mini reunion in Southern California. I am already imagining how you guys are going to celebrate it...you always make us laugh with your jokes when we were in college...can still sense that you have not lost your touch...full of vigor and sense of humor...I am sure your group picture will be beautiful...just don't get to loose with the wild animals around Oddie's backyard...we don't want to get those beauties ruined before the party...

I support you and your husband for all the hardship and pains you are experiencing about your children...As a behavioral health nurse, your story encourage me to have more patience and understanding...you and your husband are truly remarkable parent...one big squeezing hug for you...much love...take care...see you soon...

SIMPLY VIRMA

Victoria Potenciano Vergel de Dios

If you remember nightingales, our Batangas beach trip is courtesy of Virma Potenciano. She is our classmate till the capping ceremony. Virma was not able to finish the course but took hospital management in UP and from there moves on. Now, she manages their hospital called Dr. Victor Potenciano Medical Center in Mandaluyong City, previously named Polymedic Hospital. I am a little hesitant in revealing some details about her like sms number and contact number for she is a true-blooded Enrile, daughter of Irma Enrile, sister of Armida. If the committee is interested in enjoining her into our 30 years celebration, try her hospital (phone number is 531-4911) and for email try hrd@vrmpc.com.ph Though I have already called her, informed about the reunion but she told me that the scheduled reunion coincides with her trip to Europe. Perhaps, just giving her an invite to the nightingales blog might spark something within her. I leave this to you, hardworking nightingales. Thank you very much.

I Like You Chat

Chat, I like you. You are funny! Thanks for taking the joke. I will correct my post.

It's Not Your Fault Folks

It's not your eyes folks, its my typo error. I am the one who posted Virma on the site but I hit the wrong button and ayan ang resulta. I will correct it. Pasensiyahan na po ninyo. Julie

Sorry, Virma...

I'm truly sorry. I thought it was a blank post......bulag yata ako, I can't see, black pala ang writing. I saw your notes Julie after the second time around.......

regarding Mey Pena- Sanchez na ngayon- she is in Abingdon, Maryland. I mailed the card this morning- hopefully shell get it and call me STAT. I also gave her the blog address. Her complete address is in the updated version of the spreadsheet I sent to Rachel.

Dear Ms. Rebortira:

The members of Class 78 are already excited, planning ahead and working on our travel plans for the July 4-6, 2008 reunion.

Some of us have not received our invitations and schedule of events yet. For planning purposes, may we inquire re: the reunion schedule of activities? Ma'am, will there be time for a sightseeing tour in the schedule? What will the daily schedule and program be like from July 4 to 6?

Your response on this matter would be greatly appreciated and whatever information you can provide will be disseminated to the rest of Class 78.

Respectfully Yours,

Howdy!

All these mini-reunions - just too cool! Nakakainggit naman! It's a shame there aren't very many of us here in the great state of Texas (or in the south for that matter).

The same is true with my high school classmates from St. Theresa's who are now in the US. So when it comes to reunions, those of us from the South Central, do the most traveling by plane (to the west or east coasts or to the north and even Canada) if we want to attend.

Which is fortunate that the internet has this thing called a blog, where we are given an opportunity everyday to hold a reunion of spirits and have the opportunity to catch up -- albeit in cyberspace.

And speaking of the blog, there are 20 authors to date and still 25 open invitations. I will continue to resend the invitations -- at the risk of being labeled a pest! :) I do hope that the ones who have not sign up yet visit the blog and read all these great postings from you!

So, y'all keep bloggin'!

Southern California mini-reunion

How about Cora Feliciano, nasa Garden Grove din siya. She will go to the Philippines on March 18 and be away for two weeks though. Invite the other classmates from California nga naman---do not leave them behind..Wow!

Reminiscing and thankful...

Spoke w/ Au Buan and Mildred today. We laughed a lot remembering the college years..Although calling our classmates eat up a lot of my cell phone time nowadays, I would say it's worth it!! Imagine for thirty years I have not seen most of you and now here we are, communicating w/ one another via phone, e-mail and blogging..This is indeed a blessing/ heavenly gift to me this year--to be given the opportunity again to talk to you, to see you, build relationships, share our thoughts with one another, laugh, cry, continue from where we all left off from thirty years ago, and etc, etc, etc and who knows what will come out from all of these--this is really amazing!! I am blessed!! I thank God for this opportunity again! And thank you all....
Hello Klasmeyts,
Sorry it took forever for me to post anything.Computer, for me, is quite intimidating. But now I realized it's quite fascinating. I have been reading the blogs since its inception.and the exchanges of our thoughts are phenomenal. Thanks to Patti. Can't wait to see Gee2's work and Veron's about gathering mementos.Perhaps we could view it here altogether at the house and hopefully have a laugh about it. Love you all

About Pinky Ligon

Nightingales
Pardon me but I tried Pinky Ligon's number posted and I couldn't get through. I worked on the combination and tried websearch but up to this time of posting; the numbers wouldn't work. Right now I am doing search on surname Ligon. As soon as I learn how to get in touch with Pink I shall, but for the mean time I have not results yet.

Evite

Ruth, I can send the Evites if I have all the information. I need to know the activities starting July 3. Please specify the date, time, place, contact person and number, title or name of the event. Any theme for this reunion? I'll send it to all the email addresses as soon as I have all the details. The activity specific to our class will be a separate evite, the reunion evite will be for all St Luke's grads. We should have started blogging a long time ago but it is never too late. This is great!

Beth Balmes and Mahgene Pasion

Hi!
I am so elated!! I got hold of Beth Balmes and Mahgene Pasion!!! Beth is so excited and she wants to attend the reunion w/ her family. She was so surprised to receive my call! Mahgene has prior commitment so she cannot attend the reunion in July but she is willing to come to the NJ-NY-MD-VA mini reunion we are planning in NY in April..She will check the dates.

Rachel, can you pls add Beth's and Mahgene's info on our class roster and send them also a copy of the spreadsheet?
Patti, can you pls send them the blog invitation?
I sent you an e-mail re: their info.
Thanks to both of you..You're great!
I will send more info as I get hold of the rest of the classmates that I am assigned to contact.

I just finished talking w/ Redelia (Dedel) Epe. What a great time of reminiscing, sharing and remembering!! She has made her hotel reservation already. So, pupunta din siya! She also said she sent an update on some of our classmates' info to Rachel and she's hoping you got the spreadsheet she updated, Rachel... Pls confirm..

Dedel also suggested re: E-vite. This is-- we can send an e-mail invitation to all our classmates and they, in turn, can send their response if they are attending or not----this way we will know exactly who and how many are and are not going to the reunion.. What do you all think? I think Dedel does not mind sending it, right Dedel? :):):):)

Ciao for now...

16 Blog Members and Counting!

Chat - thank you for opening your heart -- for trusting us enough to share your pain with us. This is exactly how I envisioned the blog to be utilized, especially after the reunion.

Don't you just love the flow of the communication since we opened up the blog?

I sent 31 invitations but am still waiting to hear from the other 25. I will resend the invitations again tonight. BTW, Marietta was on the list of invitees. Can someone resend her e-mail address to me, please, in case I have the wrong one. Thanks!

I am so tickled to see all the photographs! Cecille and Tess - awesome job on the slides. I downloaded the Picasa a couple pf nights ago, too, because I would like to include a slide show of old nursing school photos on the blog as a permanent part of the layout.

Reading the blog has become part of my routine now. When I eat lunch at my desk, I am now reading the St. Luke's blog took instead of the New York Times website.

Keep blogging!

Aloha!

Hello everyone! I have been so excited reading through the e-mails for the past few weeks. Of course, I am very much excited to meet everyone again. After all these years..........

Thank you, Patti for creating this wonderful site. I think this will be a very useful link to each and everyone of us to chat and share our memories and pictures. Thank you , Ruth for updating and continously searching for our classmates, Rachel for your spreadsheet and the updates, Veron and Gee2 for the effort of doing the CD/video/scrapbook and to the rest of our classmates that are doing all the other chores.

I still work for the school district ( Los Angeles Unified School District) as a Pre School Intake and Assessment nurse. I am part of a team that assess preschoolers so they can qualify to receive special education, depending on their eligibility. I gave up PICU nursing 14 years ago, when my middle child (son) was diagnosed to have Autism (that was 1990). My whole world crumbled and I was devastated for weeks and months. Again by 1992, 2 years after my third child (girl) was born, she was again , diagnosed to have Autism.
I got lost and nowhere to go. I don't even know if there still a light or another dark tunnel ahead of us. (I am still waiting for a light). Until now, I am still searching for answers. Both of my kids are non-verbal. As my husband and I get older, out lives gets more stickier and complicated, as we navigate through their grim future. We are still intact, though and try to reach out whenever we can, to our family, friends and support groups available. We have more bad moments than good. We try to incorporate a lot of humor in our everyday life, otherwise we will be a basket case. There are times, I feel and act like I am Autistic too. ( Maybe I am one, just a high functioning one).
I dearly love my 3 kids (my eldest is 22 years old and hope to graduate this June). My husband refuses to place my youngest, in the care of others, since she is the aggressive and the worst of the 2. He has more patience than me in dealing with my daugther. We just pray and hope that someday, they both will be better. (Better Autistic I'd say...)
I know there still a lot of room for growth for them and us. We learn from our kids and they learn from us. They are our greatest teachers. They both taught us how to be patient, how to forgive and forget, to be strong in our emotions, to accept criticisms freely, how to survive everyday happy, to be non-judgemental toward others, to accept no matter who you are, to share whatever you have whether small or big, to smile and laugh a lot, not to frown or get mad, not to yell, to give frequent hugs, give kisses and pat on the back, to leave behind yesterday, do whatever you need to do for today and not worry about tomorrow for everyday is different and above all the unconditional love we have for them.
Well I guess, I have told you about my family, nothing fancy, just a simple life we lead and I am happy.
You will meet them all in San Francisco.

Hope to see you all in July and I am sure we will all have a great time.

Chat Sanchez Lazaro

RE: Privacy Issues

Oddie-thanks for the info regarding Ms. Rebortira. Joy has access to the crew assignments and would know who will be flying on Julie's flight. If she knows the purser or any of the crew members on that particular date.....she could request for them to give Julie extra attention. Unfortunately, she cannot request for preferential seats. The best thing that could happen in that situation...is if Pinky is on that flight!

Patti-I just talked to Marietta Pineda and she would like to request for an invitation to our blogspot.
Thanks.

Roster Confidentiality

Hello Joyce, no we are not sending our roster to Ms Rebortira due privacy issues. Everyone will just have to e-mail her if they want the Reunion invitation. Some would like to maintain their home/ e-mail addresses and phone #s private, or exclusive to the class. I'll post her e-mail address later when I get home.....
Joy, read your letter...it's funny kasi you might have thought at that time that you can get away for your nursing classmates after graduation by joining PAL, huh? They haunted you in the delivery room, in your flights, everywhere huh? Now, I suggest to everyone to call Time Warner Cable, so those who were not able to haunt you can do now! he-he-he just joking Joy.....
Joy....i want Julie and her sis to fly PAL dahil shorter flight hours yoon. Do you by any chance have any power to influence seating if you are the one requesting? Maybe the area where there is room for her legs to stretch? ...if not possible, it's alright.....
take care everyone.
Gee-just tried to call you.....but got your answering machine. Thought we were going to chat today. You're probably busy working on our video. I hope our classmates in the East Coast will be able to contact Mahgene. It would be great to talk to her again!

Veron-i called Ruby Bacorro and she was at work. She will call me when she gets home tonight. I also called Marietta Pineda and left a message on her answering machine.

Mildred-nice family pictures and your daughters are beautiful!

Rachel-i tried calling Pat Vergara and her cell phone number was disconnected. I just went ahead and e-mailed her. I'll tell her to forward her new information to you.

Oddie-what a beautiful family you have indeed! BTW, are we suppose to send Ms. Rebortira our info? Do you have her contact information? Regarding our get together at Sarah's.....I agree that July 3rd would be better.

Cecile & Tess-thanks for sharing your album with us. Nice to see you both again (kahit sa pictures lang). Still can't tell you apart! When you talk to Flor and Chato, please give them my regards.

Melle-Joy said when she was flying with PAL, the crew stayed in a hotel in Foster City. She said the place is pretty nice.

Julie-don't be ashamed of posting frequent messages.....we love hearing from you!

Sarah-have you talked to Marilyn Quintana? Will she be attending our reunion? How about Cynthia Manongdo? Doesn't she live in Northern CA?

I e-mailed Larcy Rivera and gave her the details for our reunion. Also told her about our blog site.

Will be sending updated pics soon (have a dinner date with Joy, Chato, and hopefully Jojo, Noemi, Ruby, Larcy, Pat and Marietta).

Greetings from LA!

Hi everyone! After 5 years of college and completing rural work and passing the board...nightingale's prodigal daughter went to fly with Philippine Airlines for 25 years. Got to attend the reunion in San Pedro and hopefully come to sfo in July. I'm now with Joyce ..I resigned from PAL in 2005.. Mayette Pineda was my passenger several times and met up with Maolu in the 80's and was in touch with Telly...Gina Garcia was with me when I gave birth to my first born and was there the whole time I was in labor...what a blessing! Gina Bart was there too when my son was confined in the hospital and she was a nursing sup (nursing services ofc)...So everyone is in US except for Pinky who is still flying, Faith who went back home and Carmencita Roldan and Julie! Hi Julie! Do you have a copy of our pix in Bulacan..that's my favorite pix..on the swing and with roses in our hands pa! I'm now with Time Warner Cable sitting at my desk in front of the computer and with a headphone the whole day ...Must have a hearing loss on my right ear after years of flying and with twcable I might just lose my left ear too...not a day passes without someone screaming on the phone..Tried to post some pix but haven't learned how to yet..I just remembered what my daughter said before when I started using the computer and kept asking her the same questions, "Ma,di pa ba uso si Bill Gates when you were in college?" Joyce just spoke with Ruby B re posting in the blog and Ruby hasn't heard of Mr. Gates either!!! ha ha ha! I dont know how I'm even able to trouble shoot internet issues over the phone at work... take care and much love to all of you! Mmmmmmmwah!

Scrapbook....

Who is going to do the scrapbook?....hmmmm...I am going to Costco this week and have some pictures printed out...do not worry girls, just keep on sending your beautiful pictures...Maybe the "Golden Girls" from East Coast(Mildred,Chato, Cecil, Lele, Flor (Lisa), Ruth A., Susan, Amy B. and I ....will meet one day at either Mildred or Flor"s (Lisa) place and do this scrap book....I need feedback from the East Coast girls...need your help. Tess, you said you will be coming up around 2nd week of April to Jersey...Ruth can you make it also? It will be a mini re-union for us...

East Coast girls...do you by any chance have Carol Hernando's phone number? I saw her at Christine's Bakery(Bergenfield) last Christmas eve, we forgot to exchange phone numbers....she lives somewhere around here...Clifton or Garfield.

What happened to Marietta Pineda? Ruby Bacarro? Eloisa dela Paz? Are they aware that we have this blog site?

Hear from you again?

NJ-NY-VA-MD Mini Reunion

Much better for me is 4/12 for the NJ-NY-VA-MD mini reunion, if everyone is available. We need to include Mahgene on the list since she is in NY. I will call her today. Let's plan!!

Hello, Early Risers!

Veron, here we are again obsessing about our video early in the morning. Nagseselos na ba ang husband mo? Anyhoo, I just want to say thanks to Tess and Cecile for taking the time to post your beautiful photos for the video. Veron, just view their photos, right-click on each one and choose Save picture as...

Oddie, your silver wedding anniversary photos are truly lovely. And your son and daughter are both bee-oo-ti-ful kids --- maganda and pagkakagawa!!!! Kanino pa nga ba magmamana? Congratulations on your 25 silver years of wedded bliss. Veron, just click on their pictures to enlarge them, then right-click on the enlarged photo and Save picture as again.

I've started laying out the pictures already and I think it's gonna be great, guys. Sorry, no peeking. Patti, I've sent you text messages to call me because I don't know your schedule and don't want to call you at a bad time. I was working on the video yesterday and I'd really like to talk to you soon about the script because I'm planning the arrangement of the photos according to the narration. I also sent you an invitation to be my contact on Multiply so you can view a restricted access of the rough draft of the video on my site. If you don't mind, I'll be working on the video again tomorrow so it'll be super if you can call me tomorrow afternoon. Thanks in advance.

Hey, has anybody talked to or know where Mahgene is? Is she still in the Philippines or did she migrate to the States too? Joyce and I were reminiscing about how the 3 of us were such best buds our first year in Trinity and I just realized that no one has mentioned Mahgene. I really miss her too. The number on the roster---is that a US number? What about Pangga, were you able to get hold of her, Ttat?

Okay, guys, that's all for now. Have a blessed day, everybody! (Veron, bukas ulit. He. He.)

Family pix, husband Carlos, son Carl and daughter Yasmin - Silver Wedding Anniv.

pix

this was taken last 10/2005 during my 25th wedding anniv...with Telly Delovino Escarda and husband, Cora Feliciano Alejandro and husband, and Eloisa dela Paz Vasquez.

Hello, Julie!

I took the liberty of posting your e-mail message for the premier edition of the "First Person" article of our blog. Anyone who reads your story cannot help but be touched. And even without seeing the old photos, in my mind's eye, I could see your face clearly as I was reading your e-mail.

Your e-mail also made me think about how we all have had to take different routes here and there (from how we first envisioned, fresh from nursing school) depending on how our lives unravelled.

I always thought our training as nurses prepared us well for bumps along the winding road. Yours has been more like a rocky ride along the zigzag roads to Baguio in a thunderstorm at night!

And yet, from reading your story and from your e-mails, I sense the strength of your spirit and more importantly, your peace. With all that you have been through, your sense of humor is truly priceless.

No where else than in our nursing practice do we get a daily reminder of life's brevity. And unfortunately for some of us who have had a brush with serious illnesses, it is reality.

I take my hat (nursing cap, perhaps) to you, Rachel and T-tat and the rest who have had to take this difficult journey that the rest of us can only begin to imagine.

My dear Julie, I am glad you're in the blog. Keep blogging!!!

P.S. Yes, you can keep calling me Patti. :)

Thanks Patti

Hi Patti! Great work!

Hello Everybody!Oh gosh, thanks for posting my writes and I never expected the impact of the writes! I do not know if I should apologize but that's how it has always been with me. In pinoy lingo, "labas ang bituka at pati ang puso ko". I never realized it would be that, that, that raw in world wide web medium! In print, ok lang but in computer, I feel like apologizing to everyone. Hoooo but then it is cathartic. And personally, I want to hug you all! Thanks Patsy, pero sa akin si Patti ka pa rin. Hello Titat! Remember we were group during our AB courses or pre-nursing courses.

A Visit to San Francisco 2002

May of 2002: I had been divorced for about a year. On the invitation of Emma, my best friend from high school, I went to Fremont. She drove me to Modesto to see T-tat and her hubby Greg. These are two photos from that visit.

Wow,Joyce!! It is so good to hear that you are hanging out w/ some of our classmates on the 29th..See, what this reunion has done---it's really a blessing!!
I spoke w/ Tess Herrera last week and we are also planning on a get together @ Flor Bolos' sometime in the spring, before the July reunion---Tess, Cecile Herrera, Flor, Lele, Susan, Amy Benavidez, Mildred, Jannete, Veron, and I..Who else are in these areas? Let us know so we can all get together!! We will see what happens...This is really exciting-- renewing bonds w/ our classmates!!
I love it!

Script

Hi Gee,

I would be honored to do the script for the video. Let me know when I should get started.

Picture

Gee2......you guys looked so cute and innocent ....like angels; what happened to the scratched faces of the other 2...were they who you were not fond of during those days???

Guess what!

Guess what I unearthed yesterday as I was perusing through the pages of a really old album of mine. I am sharing this with you all, dear classmates, albeit this is mainly for Melle. I've known all along that we were classmates in grade school at Stella Maris although I doubt that I've ever brought it up with you, Melle. Well, here's a little blast from the third grade. You're in the first row standing to the left of Miss Dionisio, our homeroom teacher. I'm also on the first row, fourth from the left. Melle, you were always as cute as a button even back then...ahlavit!!! Okay, now that I've amused everybody, let me get back to this business here re: our memory video.
I've downloaded all of the beautiful pics you've all posted of previous reunions and they averaged at 640 x 480 resolution. That is fine if it's the highest you can go. I'll work around it. If you can, if at all possible, scan them at higher res, like 1280 x 960, they will come out better in video. Check settings/preferences before you scan to choose the resolution. Solicit the help of your offsprings if you're technically-challenged.
Veron, I need for you to drum up some more support from our other classmates --- especially the ones we only have phone #s of. Can you call them por favor? And we need more pics from the old St. Luke's days. Get those old pictures out where the sun can shine on them. Btw, Oddie, the pic of Ms. Alcantara from the alum site is not downloadable, so I'm figuring out a way to grab it. Patti, I still have not gotten a yea or nay from you about writing the script. Would you do it, pleeeeease (I'm literally on my knees begging you with puppy dog eyes...blink...blink...)
Folks, this video will only be as good as the stuff that I will have available to work on. So please make time to look for your old pics, if you have any, okay? Trust me, it'll be time well spent. The sooner you can get them to me, the better because this will take time to organize and create...Muchas gracias, everybody. TGIF!

Blog Access

Blogs are everywhere now in the world-wide web. It's a great tool for information and even utilized as a teaching tool in nursing.

We can certainly limit the access to the blog. But for the moment, as blog administrator, I felt the need to make it accessible to the public until everyone in our group registers as an author. Otherwise, they will not be able to view. At that time, we can all decide if we want to restrict access.

At the moment only 10 out of the 25 invitees (based on the e-mail addresses) have responded and registered as author.

At this point, while waiting for eveyone to register, let's not place anything you would like to share with the public.

Thoughts?

Confidentiality Issue

There was an issue of confidentiality addressed by Oddie.

How safe is this blog? I suggest that we do not post our personal confidential information in this blog until we are sure of its security. Let us just use email to share this information.

Video...

That was my first intention...Geegee and I have to come up with a a very short video to present.. about 3 to 5 mins only....We need to create another video just for us which may take longer than 5 mins if we have a lot of materials...pictures...stories...etc..

Geegee, what picture size you want me to print for the album?

AWESOME BLOGSITE!

Kudos to our dear Patti for working so hard to help us communicate with each other. After 30 long years.........we are finally reconnecting!! I am just as excited to open my e-mail every morning. Boy, the memories keep coming back especially after seeing all the pictures from all of you!

Last night I got an e-mail from Chato Sanchez and she will be attending the reunion. We (me, Joy, Chat and Pat) will be meeting up on the 29th for dinner and I'm sure we'll be discussing what has been happening the past few days (e-mails from all of you, pictures, etc.) I also got a message on my answering machine from Larcy Rivera-Caguin. Her e-mail is lrcaguin@gmail.com and cell phone # is 818-415-2267. If anyone would like to contact her, it's better via e-mail.

Patti & Veron, you look good and both of you have handsome sons!!!

BTW, I spent so much time last night trying to figure out how to post my message. Thanks Patti, for sending me the invitation. Joy is also requesting for an invitation. Her e-mail address is joy324@roadrunner.com.

Well classmates......this is all for now. Love you all!

Video as our class presentation

I agree with Oddie re: using the video as our presentation!! Good idea!

Class Video

Dedication Service

Hi Geegee! I don't mind sending them again. Just let me know what I can do to help and make life easy. The task that you and Veron have taken is huge!!!!! Here are a few more from my Class 78 picture folder. I suddenly remembered the Manong who used to take photos when there was an event in SL. Manong Willie ata ang name niya, (official photographer)

Got no solo picture of Miss Alcantara, but got one taken with her. (chums kami ano?)

Melle

Excitement is in the air!!!

Ako din always excited to open my e-mail and blog site every morning..Napapansin na nga ng hubby ko ang excitement ko,eh..
This reunion has opened a way for us to communicate again to each other..Then this blog site, wow!
Thanks talaga, Patti!
The pictures bring back all those happy memories of college life in St. Luke's..My husband was looking at some of our grad pictures and he mentioned that he was there! Yes, he was! I ended up marrying Val, my special bf noong college:):):)..Tingnan mo nga naman..
O sige na..Let's keep blogging!!

Lest We Forget Confidentiality...and other matters

I wholeheartedly agree that we have to maintain confidentiality when it comes to divulging any information that we provide in good faith to each other. We have to be able to rest assured that what goes in our roster stays in our roster. Having said that, I want to reassure everyone that any photos you submit are also safe with me. The reminder, Oddie, is much appreciated. In this day of identity thefts and what not, you just never know.

Thanks Melle for posting some photos in this site. I was able to download the pics except for the ones enclosed in photo corners. I would like to have those other peechurs too if you don't mind posting them again please... Patti, do I have permission to use your photos with the men in your life? Boy, the boys have truly grown! How long have we not seen each other already? You look amazing btw...

Does anybody have a photo of Ms. Alcantara? I am thinking of dedicating the memory video to her. No disrespect to our other equally excellent mentors, but like I told Melle, I just feel that every graduate that passes through the St. Luke's portals carries the spirit of the true art of nursing that Ms. Alcantara instilled in each one of us. What are your thoughts about this, guys? Okay, this ends my ramblings for today.

Great Work

Hi Everyone,

I just would like to let you all know that I am having so much fun doing what we are all doing for our class. Now that we are on our "Golden Years" , It makes me feel young again!!!!It brings me back to our Santa Maria Days and other school or group projects we did in college where we all worked together as a team...and of course always did a good job.

Only now ...we have all gotten better and wiser!!!!

Every morning I am always so eager to check out my email first or check out the blog to see what is new and I am amazed everytime....even before I start my work.

This really makes my day. Let us keep this up.

Love you all,

Rachel

Re: Class of 78 Roster

Good morning, everyone!

I will also be sending this message via e-mail since not everyone has signed up for the blog yet and I didn't want anyone left out of Oddie's important message.

While sending the spreadsheet is easy, it still behooves us to respect privacy - are we nurses or what? So, Oddie, your suggestion of e-mailing Ms. Rebortira is the best. So, please send us her e-mail address.

In the meantime, we all need to update the spreadsheet (huge note to myself).

Class '78 Roster

To Class '78,

The St. Luke's Assoc.Alumni president Ms Rebortira requested our class roster, including our current addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses. I was going to send it initially but decided not to, without your consents. Some of our classmates might be private individuals who do not want their addresses/ phone numbers known outside of the class list.
I think she needed the roster for mailing of the reunion invitations. So, I therefore suggest that if you want an invitation sent to you, just do your own e-mailing. What do you guys think?
I am so hesitant to divulge anybody's address to people we don't know.

The "Men" in My Life :)

Just wanted to share recent photos of me with my three sons: Keith, Kevin and Kyle and also of me with my sweetie, Tom Amsden.

" This is a test only....."

This is a wonderful way communicating. I hope everyone knows how to use this blog site....Anyone who is a afraid to try or test this site...don't despair because I also didn't know how to use it...just follow the guideline...SIGNING UP IS FOR FREE" HURRAYYYYYYY FOR PATTI....this way our email won't be overloaded. Till next time....please keep your pictures coming and keep in touch....VERON

This site's a keeper!

Thanks, Patti, for initiating this site. Yay, Class 1978 has found a home in cyberspace! Why didn't we think of this before? This is a fantastic venue for exchanging stories, announcements, photos, videos, thoughts and ideas --- let's just remember to keep the gossip down, okay guys? Wink...wink. Everybody must have been inundated with tons of email lately what with all the cc-ing here and cc-ing there and 30 years worth of catching up to do. This way we can keep the email exchange simple. Furthermore, you can upload your photos for our memory DVD in this site as well. I can download the pictures from here, right, Patti? It'll make life so much easier for me. A round of applause for Patti! To those who are already signed up, try to get the others to get on board.

Random Thoughts on Day Two

The last several days has brought back so many great memories of nursing school. It seems like yesterday but at the same time so long ago. Doesn't make sense but I am sure you all know what I mean.

I always thought of myself as the reluctant nurse; my enrollment in nursing was really a parental mandate and not a choice. Only now do I value this wonderful gift.

Nursing has been my great window to life -- its beauty and its opportunities. In spite of the ups and downs during the last 30 years, I am finally happy and finally at peace. And definitely enjoying being single!

I have learned my greatest life lessons from my patients -- how to stop and smell the sampaguita since life is so brief.

Enough serious thoughts for the day. It's time to get back to work. I have bills to pay and sons who think I am their ATM. :-)

This is great! Thanks, Patti!!

Day One of the Blog

Whew! It's way past my bedtime, but I wanted to get this blog up and running. Still need to tweak and add photos and such.

It's really a great way to sending messages to each other since they're all in one place. No need to sort to a bunch of e-mail.

Well, let me know what you think.

Good night. I have to take a shower and go to bed. Tomorrow is a work day for me. :-)
