To All The Daughters of Nightingale who are intelligent, nurturing, giving, kind mothers and more. I am so touched by the email I received, if I am not mistaken, that you primarily sent Oddie about a mother. My mother passed away 2 years ago now, but it was a mother's day day. I could not grasp why she has to leave on a day that we celebrate all mothers, and on the day as well of her youngest son, Oliver, birthday. It was a double whammy. I made her coffin and lying state into a beautiful forest of orchids, a beautiful garden. Our lanai was completely filled with flowers. It was a pretty garden. And I let our small waterfall keeps on flowing down water. All to honor her. I have reasons for going to California, the reunion was incidental. I took it as message from heaven. And that is to renew my ties with class 1978, and for medical data. I am an intellectual property of my cardiologist for his researches, I allowed him and now, I have to pass my data to another scientist. If only you can imagine my excitement when Ate or Teresa said yes to my plea to allow me to be with all of you to remind me of who I am and who I can not. And more to remove myself from remembering the pain of losing a mother. And to remember only sacrifices of mothers which you are all doing exactly to give your children and family a grand life; one that is free from dissolutions and wants. I have never known grief, sadness in my entire life. I have no emotional issues, (medical issues, yes) until my mother passed away.

What can I say to all of you beautiful mothers who raised your children well? Only my heartfelt congratulations. Thank you Melle for reminding me to lessen my PMA attacks or my grief attack and for creating videos that touches the hearts. Thank you Oddie for your warm reception, I hope you haven't reached your breaking point re me. Thank you Sarah for your invitation and welcoming me into your home. But most, thank you all nightingales for you are not her daughter only, you are the nightingales in your individual lives and family lives. And thank you very much for welcoming me back into the fold of nursing which I tried to pushed but cannot for no matter what; I am one of the daughters of nightingale.
Roses to all of you…………

Hi Mey! Could you please e-mail me a photo of your family or post one in the blog? Pretty please!

Julie, I don't have your latest photo either. Didn't we take pictures when Gary & I were at your place last year? Or we were too busy eating? LOL Could you please e-mail or post it here as well.

Ruth, talagang work of love itong video clip na ito, remember Amores na ang family name ko LOL

Oddie, thanks again for your e-mail and for allowing me to ride with you from LA to San Francisco. I am so excited about my bath tub accomodation in Crowne Plaza Hotel too. It's going to be a brand new experience! LOL. For those who do not get it, ask Cecile Herrera and Teta Lagunero. (I'll let them do the explaining) They are my good friends and this is how they plan to treat me when I come for the reunion! ( Just making you laugh)

Mildred, you might change your mind and want to come too. The bath tub accomodation is free. LOL

Sometimes I ask myself if this is the right time to have a reunion with the golden girls kasi I might offend some classmates when I joke around. But I promise, I will behave myself as long as you laugh with me.
After 11 years I will see the Crookedest Street again, is it still crooked Sarah? LOL

Happy Mother's Day to all the daughters of Nightingale!!!Thank you Melle for reminding us that being a mother is the best job in the world. All of us have mothers, we felt the love, security and support from her. As I was telling my own children that, "you can replace your boyfriends or even your husbands, but you only have one mother and she is irreplaceable.
I remembered when my mother passed away more than a year ago. It was the saddest and painful experience day of my life. I remembered her sacrifices for me when I was growing up, that is why I promised myself that I will be a good mother because of her. She was my idol, my rock and my example in training my own children in the right path.
For those of you who still have mothers, you are truly blessed!! Please show your appreciation, concern and love for them, not only on Mother's Day, but everyday of her life. Take care of them!!They are aging now and you might not have an opportunity later on. Time is really short!! Give them the respect that she deserved. There is a saying that, "The way you treat your mother determines the kind of person you are".
Again, Happy Mother's Day! TREAT YOUR MOTHER THIS SUNDAY.SHOW HER HOW MUCH YOU CARE FOR HER.I think she needs to hear that over and over again, and who knows because of your love for her, she might live longer and happier here in this world.
Maraming salamat po.

However, on a happy note, regarding the bath tub accommodation Melle, I think it is awesome!!You are near the water, you can easily take a shower, brush your teeth and do other things(you know what) ahead of Teta and Cecile.Who knows, I might change my mind, as long as you are my roommate in the bath tub. I want the left side of the tub, that side is more comfortable and perfect.

Thanks for chatting with me for hours and hours until dinner time. There is a lot of things to catch up and it is free. Imagine, talking to you "live" from New York to Australia, that is plenty of mileage!!
I know that you will not offend your classmates for joking around, they know better than that. We are in our 50's, simple comment should not destroy the friendship that we once had. Right, Daughters of Nightingale??

Greetings from San Diego.....
Melle....you are welcome! What is your itinerary? Can you squeeze in San Diego in your schedule? Pasyal ka sa amin!
Julie...wala naman akong breaking point! breaking joints pa meron...achy na kasi dahil sa old age!!! You guys are welcome anytime!
Mildred..I see that you remembered
our conversation..that everyone should be BEYOND feeling offended
with jokes/comments made, since we have known each other for 30 yrs!

You are right Oddie, let us enjoy every moment of our togetherness as daughters of Nightingale. Don't let this opportunity of friendship pass us by. The Mid-Atlantic reunion rekindled that friendship and I will deeply treasure those moments of togetherness. I hope that we should not pass every moment of togetherness when we have an opportunity to do so. Mini reunions are good especially if not everyone can join the Grand Reunion.

Hi Oddie, my IT is still unconfirmed but I plan to arrive in LA on June 28 and be there till July 2. Then San Francisco from July 3 - 6. I have to fly back to Sydney on July 12 or 13th in time for the World Youth Day 2008 celebration. Are you taking time off after the reunion?

Cynthia, are you taking time off after the reunion? I know you would like us to see your favorite casino, and meet up with Uncle Arnold. I have not committed my July 7 - 11, but there are tentative plans out of California for these days. Syempre, Class '78 will definitely be priority on my schecule. So please let me know while I have not purchased my airline ticket for any continuing destination in the US. Thanks.

Hello Melle, yes, I will be on vacation after the reunion till July 15. We leave for SF morning of July 3, so don't forget to call me re: your LA address for your pickup...we will convoy with Telly Delovino Escarda...Getting close now....pretty soon July na....

Melle said...

Hi Oddie, that is good news for me. That means I won't have to worry about asking you to go on leave, siguro kung puede ako sumama sa inyo pabalik sa San Diego, I can do that then I can just go back to LA by myself to do some shopping before I return to Sydney. I will let Gary know about this option and will give you an update. Thanks.

Oops, BTW, do you have an extra tub at home? Baka naman you are thinking doon din ang accomodation ko? LOL

Melle, Thank-you! Please stay in Northern California after the reunion, I'm also taking a week off after the reunion so we can camp out in Yosemite with Sara Paredes and Carmen Roldan, we can camp out in tents..walang bath tub, walang ligo...LOL...Sabit lang ako kay sara pero I'm sure everybody who wants to see Yosemite is welcome to join. :-)

Mildred, I totally share your sentiments about our mothers. They are our rock and you are children's rock, as well. And while they are still strong and no matter what, how, where, why situation mothers are; no time to express our appreciation to them but now. Not day but today. Happy Mother's day to you, too.

Mey, Itis nice to hear I made Miryana very happy when she saw this video. I knew she would be delighted to see herself a part of this big family. Tell her Tita Melle made it especially for her.

Melle said...

Cynthia, Sorry we got cut off, the phone got discharged. LOL

OO, sasama ako kahit saan niyo gusto pumunta wag lang sa may bushfire at heatwave. Madami na kami niyan dito. It will really be exciting to see you after 30 years. Kahit saan tayo matulog, sanay ako sa camping.

Manongdo said...

Amy Jaramillo said she was waiting for your phone call. She's going to LA a week before the Grand Reunion, will do long driving scenic route from southern california to northern california via Drive America then turn back to LA, leaving back to florida from LA on July 7. I will talk to Sara about the Yosemite camping to finalize the arrangements. CHEERS !

Melle said...

Cynthia, please tell Amy I will call her. Just want to make sure about my travel IT. Isasama ba niya ako sa scenic drive niya or iniinggit lang niya ako? LOL

About that $195 rego fee? Will you be able to claim that as tax write off in the US being professional nurses? If yes, then there will be no problem for everyone working there, right?

Anyways, I will just go with the flow. Whatever the majority decides to do, will be fine with me. Sabi ko na nga kay Teta I will not attend the dinner dance kasi wala ang couturiere ko, hindi ko makita, kaya wala akong masusuot. Also wala din ang dance partner ko. Pero mapilit siya, gusto niya mag attend! LOL

Maybe we should make a votation. Who wants to attend the dinner dance and who wants to eat and dance somewhere else. Can we just go clubbing or do something else?

Oddie and Veron, may I also suggest if it is possible to make arrangement with Crowne Plaza Hotel to have all Class 78 booked in the hotel occupy rooms in just one level so we can have a pajama party? LOL Maybe they have rooms that connect to each other. That would really be awesome!

oddie said...

Hi Melle...I will call Crowne Plaza today and will see what can be done about rooms...I was at this Crowne Plaza 3 yrs ago to attend my husband's reunion and the hotel was fully booked and even though we had reservation weeks before the event, we waited for 4 hrs at the lobby for a room. They said the reservation is not a guarantee that a room will be available on the check-in time.....
If can not be done, we can just probably sit outside in our pajamas...he...he...he!

Melle said...

Well, that sounds real fun, we can have the pajama party at the lobby!!! Crowne Plaza would probably check us in straightaway soon as they find us rowdy! Thanks Oddie for taking time.
