Hello Mey! I never realized how valuable the role nurses perform in the healing profession until I became a patient. Sipping water, turning around, taking meals, changing gowns which all nurses do and more. Simple acts but to us patients they mean a lot, specially when done with compassion and understanding. I am not in a position of being saluted, but I am in a position of giving salute and professing gratitude to all of you nurses, truly you are daughters of nightingale. Let me thank you with sincerity, deep gratitude and warm affections. For I would not have made it too and reach golden years without the nurses who suction my throat, change fluids, wheeled me to operating room or laboratory room. If you only know how deeply grateful I am to all the Pinoy Nurses, for they make the difference in the medical field. But more I am very proud of the daughters of nightingale, Class 1978. SALUTE!

For us nurses, I believe this is a God given calling because we do this for the love of the game. Caring for people gives me deep satisfaction that I cannot explain. It just feels good to help and make other peopl feel better. I would not trade my profession with anything else.

Happy nurses week to all of you my beloved classmates.

A noble profession for the chosen ones. :-) Remember the interview process before we were accepted in Trinity Colege nursing Internship/ The question was "why did you choose Nursing and why did you choose this school?" My reply was "to help mankind and serve humanity...he..he..he...and then I said if this school does not want me I can always go to another school but I will always be a nurse...:-) I'm glad Dean Santos accepted me kahit na scatter brain ako noon...ay..pati pala hanggang ngayon. LOL. Thank-you Mey for stirring up memories. happy Nurses week to everyone....

Cynthia, I cannot help laughing. Really looking forward to seeing you. Ako din ko matandaan ang aking interview. Ang natatandaan ko ay ating debate about "nursing: a vocation or profession" and I was opposition meaning "nursing is a profession." Dean said it is a vocation unlike doctors, lawyer or accountant. I was insistent that it is a profession when one can both serve and make money out of it. I said to her, what's the license for? Si Dean Alcantara ang talagang nagtatanggol sa akin, madalas ako sa office and Dean Alcantara always
saved me. I really feel bad that I failed to even give her a rose, the last time I saw her was at the wake of Dr. Bobby De La Paz and that was many moons ago. Eloy, I have not thank your aunt properly, perhaps just even through you, I can thank her. And I am really looking forward to seeing you, Eloy. Thank you Dean Alcantara for all that you have done to me and to Class 1978. PS. Melle, my recent pics are still in the cam of my niece and she just got home for one week of duty without sleep at PGH, kaya if hindi umabot sa video na you are making, it is fine if I have no entry basta alam ko bibigyan mo ako ng copy. Hindi ba...lol....
