The St. Luke's Daughters of Nightingale 1978 is a weblog for the 1978 graduates of St. Luke's - Trinity College of Nursing in Quezon City, Philippines. It is a forum to post messages, thoughts and photos. It has been 30 years since we said our goodbyes and stepped out of the Cathedral doors, strong in our ideals and ready to take on the poor in health and poor in spirit as Florence Nightingale did more than a century ago. It's been 30 years too long. We have some catching up to do!

The next biannual St. Luke's - Trinity College of Nursing reunion is scheduled for July 4th weekend in Foster City, California. Class of 1978 celebrates 30 years. Check out the St. Luke's Alumni Nursing Foundation website for details: http://www.slanfusa.org/

While I was making our class video and going through all our faded photographs, I told myself that there is one fact that I never really paid attention to while we were in college...and that is that magaganda pala lahat ang mga ka-klase ko. As in,LAHAT! And now I'm looking at these reunion photos and talaga namang walang kakupas-kupas ang class 1978!!!! In reality, blooming pa rin. I hope you guys enjoyed watching our class video together in SFO the way Mildred, Patti and I did here in Texas. I was so excited for you all to see it na. I'm really so inggit that I couldn't be there. The joy is leaping out of your photos and feel na feel ko ang saya nyo. Now that the reunion is over, I hope that we all stay in touch and keep this blog up. As we say here in Texas, let's keep on truckin', guys! I so loooooove you all!
Thanks Gee2. Sana lahat tayo makarating sa 2010. It will be in San Diego. So, please to everyone reserve that year for the reunion. We are planning to go on a cruise also.
Thanks to Arnel (husband of Tess Herrera) for putting this pictures together. I agree with Gee2 that all of our classmates are "magaganda...hindi kumukupas ang ganda...mababait pa ang sabi ng husband ko...at magugulo parin sabi ni Mam Dizon ang Surgical Head Nurse ng St. Lukes nuong araw..."
Gee2...you should have been there, we were so proud of your work...who did the narration ? Patti? thank you too if that was you..the event was awesome, we took over the dance floor..we had a forum and talked about ourselves after the hospitality night...went to Napa vineyards, thanks to Rachelee and Mark...everyone had a good time..in 2010 it will be here in San Diego, same date- July 4 falls on a Sunday therefore Monday the 5th is holiday..we are planning to go to the 7 days Mexican cruise boarding San Diego, don't know whether it will be before or after the reunion...or do something else like rent a tour bus and map out the nice places to see in San Diego County- this will be cheaper.
Oddie, I am sooo happy that you guys were able to present the video at the reunion. I really wanted our class to shine because, for some reason, I always felt that we were underdogs. And now, you even showed them how good we are at dancing, thanks to Melle! Yes, thanks to Patti for the video's narration. We collaborated in writing the piece. She made the first draft and I just made some revisions before recording the voice-over. O sige, I'm going to save PTO days and vacation money for the next reunion. I'm all for planning something that's not too lavish so people don't get too intimidated to participate. Hey, I just saw the photos of your house, btw. I wanna live there too! Can you adopt me?
Gee2...sure will adopt you, anytime...just to let you know, I have attended 3 ST. Lukes reunions, and this is the first time that a video was presented showing the schools hallway, chapel, library,as well as the activities we did then...they sure were impressed, my husband more so...i think Ms Alcantara is rolling now in her grave...bless her soul....the event was just so fun..2010 will be more so!!! get 2 weeks vacation, the cruise liners always have a salsa night dancing...you will enjoy it!!!!

Girlie and Jessie, thank you for the warm hospitality you extended to us...you have such a beautiful home as well as beautiful decors; it was nice seeing you after 30 years....
Rachelee and Mark, thank you so much for being our tour guides at Napa Valley..you guys are so kind to the senior citizens .....
Veron and Rachel, thank you for delivering Rachelee and Mark into the world..as well as for delivering the DVDs to us...

To all of the classmates, it was so wonderful seeing all of you..I never thought you guys are so funny...it was continuous laughter fr July 3-6...
To all the husbands that my husband bonded with, thank you for keeping him company while I was busy making chika-chika with my classmates....
Lastly, to Gee2 and Patti, thank you for the awesome DVD of the class........
And to you Odie, for your guidance, leadership and support. Talagang NINANG ka nga ng mga classmates natin. You made us all very happy and jolly.

Thanks Melle, Julie and Carmen for your time and effort and traveling thousands of miles just to be with us after 30 years...I am really grateful because you made this reunion very special and memorable for everyone.
And to all of our classmates who could not make it, I know you are 100% supporting us...you may not be physically present but in spirit you were with us...while viewing the DVD that Gee2 made we felt your presence at our gathering.
And to all of our classmates who shared their life experiences after graduation and till now...I embrace and support you all...you are all brave, strong and brilliant.
I like my dress too, Mildred. Thanks for liking it more for the support. Tuwang-tuwa ako sa nakuha kong gown paano naman Php 1,000.00 lang at cinderella pa! I am a hunter for bargains. Kaya I like the dollar store. Underneath the rubble is a diamond.
PS, Tess, how I wish you were there too. Your photo albums are awesome.
