The St. Luke's Daughters of Nightingale 1978 is a weblog for the 1978 graduates of St. Luke's - Trinity College of Nursing in Quezon City, Philippines. It is a forum to post messages, thoughts and photos. It has been 30 years since we said our goodbyes and stepped out of the Cathedral doors, strong in our ideals and ready to take on the poor in health and poor in spirit as Florence Nightingale did more than a century ago. It's been 30 years too long. We have some catching up to do!

Certified Daughters of Nightingale, we all are. Thank you Melle for making and creating this video. It is so touching and heartwarming. Flying the distance was not a hindrance or we did not let it hinder all of us to embrace our friends and hug our classmates; just those short days. I am filled with nothing but gratitude.
As soon as we checked in our room, we were warmly greeted by Veron. Veron who has never stopped, up to now, teaching me about compassion and kindness. Dear classmates, I gifted with Veron with the gown she wore during the hospitality night. I asked Veron to let me gift her a gown from Pinas. And she agreed to my plea. It is the least I can do to honor her alas I felt I did not do that. And I haven't stopped flagellating myself for my acts. Maybe you wonder why?In college I spent much duty time with Veron (M, N,O,P) and she helped me much way back then.
Still, Veron honored my gift and wore the gown at the event. I was filled with guilt but as she wore the gown with much finesse, class, enthusiasm, and honor; the more I felt like putting a crown on her. That is what she needs to affirm to me the kind of woman, wife, mother and friend Veronica is, a certified queen. And I am not surprised on how her boys are: respectful, loving, kind and warm. And more, so much more. The little time I spent with Rachel, Veron and her boys, was enough to affirm to me that it is all true. Thank you Rachel for the tour, the treat and allowing us to know a tiny spark of your daughter. She is a delight.
Thank you very, very, very much Veron. You shall always have that spot in my hearts. With hearts, always; julie.
To my ampon Melle, there was a picture that depicted the joy and laughter at Sara's. I think it was a candid shot, you guys were not ready yet when the paparazzi took the picture; you know the saying,"A picture tells a thousand words", think it was a song too, that group picture told it all. A word that described that reunion?
" FUN-TASTIC!!!"
It was an eye opener too, for me, getting to know again, everyone. In college, I did not have the time to REALLY REALLY know each and everyone.
I thank the Lord for giving us the chance to see each other after 30 yrs. and I am pretty sure He will give us another opportunity to meet once again here in SD in 2010.
So, classmates, maybe there will be more coming to the reunion in 2010? Let us bump it up from 27 attendees to 70 this time!!!! We all have 2 yrs to save and to file our vacation request.

Me, too, Oddie. It was an eye opener for me too, just as well. I never got to know majority of our classmates in college, more so after college for obvious reasons. So when this reunion came, my heart blinks for it was an opportunity for me for personal goals. My Ate even asked me "who is Oddie, naging estudyante ko ba siya?" Oo nga pala, ano ba ang naaalala ko kay Oddie. Forgive me Oddie but I have no college memory of you more than as one of our Cum Laude. I admit I know Mayet more but I am confident you will forgive me for that misgivings for your innate generosity and broad understanding. A generosity springing not from your pockets more from your hearts. For I get to know you and your family when inampom mo kami ni Ditse. An unexpected hospitality like an unexpected song I never imagine You Caloy, Nanay and the children shall open to me, to us. Thank you and with hearts, always.
PS Oddie, I was reading yahoo news and I was surprised with the earthquake news about a 5.4 earthquake the centered LA and felt up to San Diego? And Telly? I am not so sure about the veracity of this news. This stuff (only for me) happens in Pinas as kakabit na namin ang disasters.

The other day I heard that Yosemite National Park was closed because of fires. Earthquake naman ngayon. Kamusta na ba kayo diyan mga Californians?
Ninang Oddie, sa 2010 ang tawag na natin sa bahay niyo Hospicio de Sabas at si Telly na rin ang Mother Superior.
BTW, on a more serious note, remember Oddie we were able to talk with Dean Luna when we were registering at the hotel lobby last July 4? We were able to tell her about the help Class 78 would like to extend for the skills lab. Dean Luna handed me a business card, I think it has her e-mail address, she said we can e-mail her about this project. I gave the thing to you para ibigay kay Madame President. I hope Pat has written her so that she can tell us what their priorities are then we can talk about it.

Melle, di pa naman gumuguho ang Hospicio de Sabas, and kausap ko si Mother Superior Telly just a few minutes ago.
The papers you gave me from Dean Luna, I gave to Madame President during the dinner and dance night.
Thank God you are all ok. It was really a surprise to me and Yosemite on fire..Sa Pinas lang nangyayari ang ganyan ah, ordinaryo na sa amin ang baha, bulkang sumasabog, buhawi, lumulubog na barko, lindol din. Salamat at mahusay at magagaling ang mga piloto natin for Pinas have no big planes incidents. Knock on wood. Our pilots are really good.
Hi Ninang Oddie, good to hear you and Mother Superior are ok. I hope Pat has read whatever was in that plastic sleeve, I think the Dean was prepared to give her contact details. She mentioned about having 2 skills lab now in the college of nursing. I did not get the chance to speak with her again. Kasi noong registration, pinaayos ko pa ang name ko kasi ginawa nila akong MELINDA AMORES. LOL Oddie sabihin mo naman sa organizers pakiayos nila ang database nila para sa next reunion lesser ang problema. They also said that I did not pay my registration fee and I did not pay for my 3 guests for the dinner dance. May auditor kaya sila?

LOL, I am happy with Marimel. Popular TV host dito si Mel so it is easy for Aussies to remember my name.
Finally I had the chance to have a look at souvenir program and our Class 1978 photo looks good with Dean Santos and Mrs Acosta. Puedeng pang tarpauline Julie kasi mukhang kumpleto na tayo doon, looks like it is an official photograph. Saan kaya galing ang picture? Maybe you can show that to Virma, it will help her remember that she did belong to Class 78 too not only Class 77.
Perhaps, I will do that, Melle, and send Virma a copy of the souvenir. Makakuha pa kaya ako sa college? Ayoko naman ibigay ang sa akin. One lang eh. Better kasi if original copy, anyway I will ask the college.

I really hope I can be at the next big reunion because I have a feeling it is going to be better than the recent one. I really don't want to miss it.
Friends and classmates, start saving for 2010 at siguradong fundraising marathon na naman. LOL. I look forward to seeing everybody and please don't let finances stop you. Puwede naman tayong makitira kay Ninang Odi at Aling Sarah. Pag nanalo ako sa casino I will fund our mexican cruise. LOL. thats a long shot cause I don't go to the casino anymore so please don't hold your breath on that.LOL. I have to think of other means to make money. LOL. Tamad na tamad na akong magtrabaho. No overtime for me and no weekends.LoL. My husband is no help cause he is retired and on a fixed income.Lol. Nag join ako ng paluwagan with friends in Florida, so I will be ready by 2010.Hip hip hooray!
Melle, this video is super duper! Happy, hilarious and this is the true reunion spirit of friendship, love, concerns, camaraderie; a bond and fellowship. True daughters of Nightingale. Kahit paulit-ulit kong tingnan at pakinggan ang tawanan hindi ako magsasawa. Salamat sa lahat at pinaunlakan ninyo akong maging bahagi ng ating reunion. Can you imagine 30 years akong nawalay sa inyong lahat at ngayon ko lang kayo nakita uli! I have only love in my hearts. Please forgive my medical moments beside my senior moments.

Julie, talagang nakakatuwa ang video na ito kasi talagang nakita kung gaano ka excited tayo. Pagpasok ko pa lang hindi ko na nakilala si Sarah. Kaya nga ang tanong ko, si Sarah ka ba? Natawa nga si Fed. Siguro gusto ako tirisin ni Sarah noon. Hehehe.
Hey, kalimutan muna natin itong reunion at dito muna ako sa Olympics sa Beijing. Opening ceremony ngayon kaya I am looking forward to what China has prepared for us to see aside from the smog.
